Psalm 119:137 - "Righteous are you, O LORD, and your laws are right."
We serve a righteous God. Aren't you glad? David begins his eighteenth section of Psalm 119 with a declaration that God and His laws are righteous. He will use the next several verses to prove His point.
So, how has God shown His righteousness to you? He has certainly proved it over and over again. It is because of His righteousness that we can even approach the throne of God. It is because of His righteousness that we can be made righteous. It is because of His righteousness that we can have forgiveness of sin.
Righteousness is not a term that we readily confer upon another human being. It is a term that is reserved for God. And, yet, God chooses to make righteous the unrighteous. We can't do it ourselves. It takes His work. And, that is something to be grateful for today.
As you go through your day, think about what it means to be made righteous. You, who, like me doesn't deserve the title, are given it by God's grace.
Praise be to God!
Dear God,
Thank You for your righteousness. Thank You that You take the flawed, the sinful, the scornful, and make us holy. You are good, and Your love truly does endure forever.
In Jesus' name,
Amen.
