She's Walking!

It's been another good day for Mom. She slept through most of the night and has been doing her physical therapy. The therapists are working on helping her walk. The pulmonologist tells us that Mom's lungs are now clear. Mom has been in great spirits throughout the day.

Thanks for your continued prayers. We are still expecting that Mom will be able to fly home on Saturday!

Dad spent another night at the hospital with Mom. He stayed with her through lunch and is now back at the hotel. Mom continues to listen to WMBI via the Internet. I think all of the doctors and nurses like the music that they hear as they walk into the room.

God is good.

In Him,

Brian

The first thing we do is turn on the computer and check in with you Mom and everyone when we wake up. We are so encouraged about this good news and how you are walking now. God is good. Throughout the day, we are glued to the computer as we can't wait to hear anything else. We can't wait until everyone is home safe and sound. We love you.

Mr. and Mrs. Schulenburg, Brian, Jenny,

This is awesome news! God is so good and we need to trust Him in our most difficult times as well, like you have. It is so encouraging how you have trusted God through this trial and how many seeds you have sown in Turkey.

I will keep on praying and I will bring you some of my "famous" chocolate chip cookies sometime after you get home :-)

Mrs. Schulenburg, please rest and continue to heal.

With much love,
Tim Besch

Dear Bea,
Such good news from Istanbul! Saturday cannot come soon enough. How sweet a time it will be for all of you to rejoin your family and friends at home.
Keep up your efforts and we will continue to pray for strength and wellness for you as well as Gordon, Jenny and Brian.
What a blessing for you to have WMBI playing in your room. Also, what a testimony to your caregivers.
I wanted to leave you with a scripture that has meant so much to me but I couldn't remember the reference (is it my age?) Just now I opened my Bible and - guess what? - the passage fell open to Psalm 103!! The exact scripture I was thinking of. Psalm 103:1-5 "PRAISE THE Lord, O my soul; all my inmost being praise his holy name. Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits -- who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's." We are praying that God will renew your strength as you journey home.
Our prayers continue for you.
Love and prayers,
Marijean

Thank you sooo much for the blog reports - what an excellent way to communicate with so many people. And Brian is great at giving updates, usually makes me cry, but describes the situation well.

Bea, I am so glad that you are feeling better. I can't wait to hear all your stories of how you touched so many lives with your witness.

God is so good, even when we have our doubts. I'm lisening to WMBI, and you may be too, the song is about not letting our enemy triump over us. Our hope is in Him!

Hope to see you soon!
Love,
Sandy DeYoung

My dearest Bea, my second mother, I have been praying for your health, I have bowed to our Mighty God on my knees pleading for complete health for you. Saturday night we held a prayer meeting for you and Gordon, Jenny and Brian. Kevin led us in song, then we prayed in small groups and then as a whole. My mother, my dad and myself were in a small group with George and Jane Petersen.

I love you and I am praying for you. My mother, my sister and my dad are all praying for you.

Here is a verse for you
"He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless, for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of His faithful ones." Proverbs 2:7,8

God is your shield, He holds victory in store for- He is guarding your course in Turkey and is protecting you each and every step of the way!!!!!!

Dear Bea,

Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Your recovery is truly a testimony of God's redeeming love. It was so hard to leave you and your family on Monday. I felt as if I had left a piece of my heart there with you. You were always in my thoughts and prayers throughout the whole trip. I loved our team meetings singing and praying with you. When I pray with you it is as if I am directly at the throne of God. You are a prayer warrior! No wonder you said that you were under intense spiritual attack. But our great God prevailed!!!

On Saturday the 30th when we thought we had lost you, we all wept and sang your favorite hymns praising God. By the way, your favorites have the word "be" in it such as "Take My Life and Let it Be" and "Be Still My Soul". :)

I have truly enjoyed getting to know your family. They were role models for the rest of us with their walk of faith through this whole crisis.

I have lots of great stories to tell you of the trip and how the Lord's hand was in everything. I have made some wonderful friendships that I know will last a life time. I can't wait to give you a great big hug! Much, Much Love, Lori :)

Remember the day before you got sick and we read out of the Psalms "His Love Endures Forever"? Little did we know then how we would see that play out in the next 2 weeks. Whenever I would hear the call to prayer from the mosques I would say, "His Love Endures Forever" and I would pray for you. He never leaves us or forsakes us.

Brian, please pass these thoughts on to your mother and dad.

Gordon and Bea, the Lord stirred my mind during the nigh last night (Tuesday) Wednesday your time regarding some very clear spiritual truths illustrated by your situation, First, Gordon, your perseverance in ensuring that Bea was being properly cared for was a clear picture of what our God has done for you all there and for each of us as His children. Peter tells us to throw all of our cares on Him because we are the center of His care. Also, Gordon, your devotion to Bea in this situation by being with her as much as possible, even "sleeping" in the hospital room in a chair, again is a picture of Jesus' promise to never leave or forsake us. We are never alone. Also, your constant presence was an example of your protection for Bea. We as His children are protected under the shadow of His wings and Solomon in Proverbs reminds us that "the name of the Lord is a strong tower. The righteous run to it and are safe." Finally, being truly aliens in a foreign country, beset by stressful and challenging times and situations, just reinforces in your own heart the strong desire of going home. What a beautiful picture for us all to eagerly look for the Lord's return so that we all can leave the troubles and trails - and go home. Thanks for being faithful warriors in the battleground to which our God appointed you. You both along with Jenny and Brain have shown us what it means to be true children of the Living God. Esther and I rejoice in your victories won so far, but as Brian so clearly expressed in his blog on church history, only eternity will reveal what other fabulous victories you were a part of as God's work there is still continuing. Grace and peace - Bill Peterson

Dear Bea,

Psalm 121:3,4
He will not let your foot slip, He who watches over you will not slumber, indeed He who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.

So rest well my friend, you are in His hands.
