I'd love to write that all of your prayers have been answered and that mom is now in her own hospital room. I can't do that. But, I can say that her feeding tube is out and her voice continues to improve. We were with mom from 10:30-4:45 today and she was awake the entire time. Mom enjoyed talking with us. She continues to experience great fear about her doctors and nurses, but we are able to reason with her. Mom pulled out her own feeding tube about an hour before we entered her room today. She has been quite the stubborn patient. We have asked mom to not pull out any other tubes. She was able to have some soup today for lunch, and she's looking forward to dinner tonight.
Please pray as she continues to struggle with such intense fear. We are hoping that tomorrow will be the day that she moves from ICU to her private room, and we believe that this may really happen.
The doctor told us that mom does NOT have legionella. She had a different type of pneumonia, which responded very well to the medication. He says that we are very lucky that her lungs have healed so quickly. We know that this has nothing to do with luck and everything to do with the power of God as demonstrated in answered prayer. Thank you for your prayers. He believes that she does have encephalitis and that the encephalitis is contributing to the confusion.
We had a good time reading Scripture to mom today. She enjoyed what you have shared. I let mom know everyone who posts comments to the blog and e-mails us about the fact that you are praying. This has been a HUGE boost to mom. She enjoys hearing all of your comments. I even tell her about the people that she doesn't know that are commenting, and she loves hearing from you too.
Tomorrow morning Dad and Jenny will be going to the Union Church of Istanbul while I go to the hospital to be with mom. They will join us after church. Dad and Jenny could sure use encouragement from the body of Christ. All of your e-mails and comments are a blessing to them too.

Gordon - Our message is especially for you today. Isaiah 26:3&4. You are in our thoughts and prayers today and everyday. Our hearts ache for what you are going through but we know God is able to turn things around and heal Bea. We are praying for encouragement and strength for you today and for Jenny and Brian too. My husband and I have been on vacation in New England this past week and repeatedly mentioned we felt so much that we were in God Country - just mystical and powerful. A great reminder of the miracles He is capable of - and our prayer is that Bea and all of you are blessed with those miracles and will return home soon.
Dear Brian, THANK you for your constant updates. It helps us feel like we are there with you. We pray for health and strength for you. We are so thankful that you can be there. We love you. DEAR GORDON, Our constant prayer are with you and we pray for your health and strength and wisdom these days. It must be so very hard to see your dear wife in this state. Today's news sounds encouraging. We love you very much. Please give Bea our love and tell her that all these days she has been in our constant thoughts day (and night) and we have shared the request with many, many people who are praying as well. God is able to do a real miracle in her body. Our prayer is that she will be moved out of ICU soon. Glad the type of pneumonia was different and she is responding to the medication and she was able to eat some today. God has promised to never leave us or forsake us. He is always with us and we pray that Bea will sense His presence each moment. The medication can surely be causing confusion at times, too. God can bring peace and comfort to her mind. We love you! Dear all: So glad to hear that the feeding tube is out & the pneumonia is going away. FBCG is having a prayer mtg for you all tonight - I can't make it, but will be praying on my own. I've shared your story w/friends from other churches,as well, and they will include you in prayers tomorrow in services. Gordon, if there's a way, we'll get those pictures out of your broken computer. My DH knows lots of tricks & a company that can salvage hard drives, if needed. Looking so forward to mtg. all of you upon your healthy return!
One of the greatest things about Bea is that no matter what the situation is there is always a silver lining that tells her God is in control. It is heartening to me, sitting in a comfortable condo in Central FL that even in the midst of the valley, her steadfastness in the Lord is unshaken. To Gordon & Jenny, we are all praying for you and wish that you will be comforted by the fact that our thoughts are with you every day. While you may be strongest now physically, take comfort in the fact that Bea is still so strong spiritually right now. Remember where that comfort comes from and no matter what happens, you will all find joy.

Brian, this is the first chance we have had to see your blog. We are glad we are able to communicate with you. Thank you so much for going there, you "Turkey" (well, you did say that Laughter was the best medicine :-),. We are praying for all of you. I just today heard about what has happened and my heart so goes out to all of you. Having lived in Indonesia for 20 years i am just imagining how hard this has been to be in another country for the first time, the fear and uncertainty and language struggles -and i do know how to pray and am praying for you. Gorden's smile at choir has always been such an encouragement. I am praying that God uses this in the lives of people around you and in your hearts as a family. I am praying for healing. We are praying for you and Brian,Jenny,& Gordan. Darrell reminded me of my dad when he was inthe hospital and was quite unruly and they had to strap down his arms because he wanted to pull out his IV"s. After they took him off some of his medication he began to cooperate with the hospital staff. Evidently it was the medication. We love you and look forward to seeing soon. Remember: when I am afraid I will trust in thee. When you get home I will share with you why that verse helped me in a scarry situation.

Dear Bea, Tonight we were with Kevin and Melissa and friends at FBCG. We have been praying and talking to God about you and Gordon and Jenny and Brian and the Turkey team. God is so AMAZING! In the midst of everything going on, He listens. He helps. He picks you up. He calms you down. He comforts. He knows.
