Lifestorms

Psalm 119:145 - "I call with all my heart; answer me, O LORD, and I will obey your decrees."

We're just finishing up our Snow Camp '08 at Covenant Pines Bible Camp. It's been a great weekend. We didn't have any snow storms when we were up here, but you could say that I heard a lot about lifestorms. I know that it's not a real word, but I think it should be. A lifestorm could be defined as a difficult period or trial that one goes through, where it can be difficult to see God at work.

One of the highlights of Snow Camp is when our seniors share about what God is doing in their lives. This year will always stand out as one in which our seniors were particularly vulnerable. Many of them talked about their doubts. Many talked about the struggles that they have to believe that God is who He says that He is. And, many of them also talked about how they continue to seek God with all of their heart.

Like David, these young people are passionate about finding God. It's easy to forget God's faithfulness to us. A lifestorm can come our way and derail our walk with Christ. If it seeems like God isn't at work in the storm, then we let go of Him. But, God never lets go of us. God didn't let go of David and He won't let go of you.

If you are struggling seeing God in your life, do what David did. Plead with God, calling out to Him with all of your heart. God promises us that we will find Him when we seek Him with all of our heart (Jeremiah 29:13). Seek Him, today!

Dear God,

It's hard to trust you when we go through the lifestorms. I don't know why that is. It should be that You are all that we can trust. You have shown Yourself faithful in the past, and You will in the future. Every breath that we have is a gift from You. Help us to remember that life is not about us, and all about You. May we glorify You in our lifestorms.

In Jesus' Name,

Amen.
