As You Wish

Psalm 119:122 - "Ensure your servant's well-being; let not the arrogant oppress me."

Do you want to know the best part about being a pastor? It's that part of my job description is that I am a servant of the Most High King. It's not just the job description of a pastor, though. It's part of the job description of any child of God. You and I get the privilege of serving Christ! And, there is no better Master.

Lest you think that being a servant isn't all that great, consider this. We all serve someone or something. Those who do not serve Christ, serve Satan. They may not know it. They may be passive servants. But, they are servants nonetheless. And, he is a master that is terrible.

So, servant, how do you feel about your job today? Are you ready to work? Are you ready to do your Master's bidding. In the film, The Princess Bride, Wesley is a servant boy to a beautiful maiden. Every time she asks Wesley to do something he responds with the words "as you wish." The narrator of the film says, "Every time Wesley said, 'As you wish,' he was really saying, 'I love you!'"

It's true as Christians too. When we say, "As You wish," to God, we tell Him that we love Him. Get to work servant! And let your answer be, "As You wish!"

Dear God,

You have treated your servants with more favor than any of us deserve. We are not worthy of Your grace or Your forgiveness. We are not worthy to be called sons and daughters of God. Thank You for Your extravagant love.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
