Hating Evil

Psalm 119:104 - "I gain understanding from your precepts; therefore I hate every wrong path."

If you've been reading this blog over the course of the past week, you have read about paths. David talks about the concept of the right and wrong path quite a bit in this section of Psalm 119. He concludes this section of the Psalm by once again talking about his hatred for choosing the wrong path.

So, how are you doing on choosing paths this week? As a youth pastor, I often draw upon David's analagy of paths while talking with students. This week I've had that conversation several times. It seems like the high school years are a time where students are constantly faced with choices that have the potential to shape their future for good or for bad. I hate it when I see students knowingly make the wrong choice. It breaks my heart to see students caught in a web of destruction.

Please join me in praying for students today. It's Sunday, and tomorrow all across the country, millions of junior high, high school and college students will head back to class for yet another week. Pray that they will make wise choices. Pray that they will dig deep into God's Word to discover His best for their lives. And, pray too that you will continue to follow Christ's precepts, and that you'll grow to hate the wrong path.

Dear God,

We want to follow Your precepts. Help us love You and hate sin. Help us be prayer warriors and true counselors for students who are facing huge choices in their lives. Thank You for your patience with fallen men.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
