God's Navigation System

Psalm 119:105 - "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path."

It was one of the top Contemporary Christian songs of the 1980's. Amy Grant's Thy Word, shot to the top of the charts as the CCM darling of the 80's belted out the words to Psalm 119:105 in the form of song. I remember singing along with the song every time it came on the radio.

There is something beautiful about the words of Psalm 119:105. It's a vivid description of the value that comes from allowing the Word of God to be your guide as you walk through life's journey.

This afternoon I spent time with a teenager whose life has spiraled out of control. We went to Teen Challenge, a faith-based drug recovery program. I loved watching God work in this young person's life. As the admissions representative talked about Teen Challenge, she said that Teen Challenge is first and foremost a discipleship program. People who enter treatment at this facility are saturated with the Word of God. Teen Challenge has one of the highest success ratios in the country when it comes to treatement of substance abuse. Why? Because, they recognize that living in the world requires God's navigation system, the Bible, to make right choices in how to live.

Let God's Word be your navigation system as you go through life. He will never steer you wrong.

Dear God,

You have provided the way for us to know how to walk through our life's journey. Help us to stay in tune with Your global navigation system. Thank You that You love us like You do.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.
